What if making something important to you taught you about your subject simultaneously?
Writing an ebook is more than just putting words on a page; it’s a journey of personal growth that tests you, makes you stronger, and changes you in ways you won’t expect.
You should feel good about writing an ebook, right? But before you can do that, you need to deal with the things that are stopping you from succeeding.
- Self-Doubt: It can inhibit growth and make you feel inadequate.
- Being impatient: Producing an ebook takes time, which can make you give up. So, you might lose interest when things move slowly.
- Fear of Failing: You may not start because you think they won’t complete or people won’t enjoy the ebook.
- Perfectionism: Wanting the result to be flawless can make you change things and criticize yourself, making it hard to finish.
That won’t matter to you, though, because writing an ebook is something you do every day.
I have learned that the trip itself is just as powerful because it can push you to grow in ways you didn’t expect. You change as a person as well as learning new things.
More Than Just Words on a Page
I’ve always been enthusiastic to start creating my ebook and share my ideas with everyone. I recently finished my ebook “Sun Tzu’s Strategies for Jiu Jitsu Practitioners“.
And believe me, as I worked on the assignment, I realized that it was a test of more than simply my writing abilities.
Writing down and organizing my thoughts brought up a lot of self-doubt I had not seen coming.
Could I really do this? Could it be that I was not “good enough”? As time went on, those questions got louder, but when I did not give up, something amazing happened: I grew in ways I never thought possible.
The Inner Journey: Lessons You Don’t See Coming
Writing my ebook taught me how to be strong. I had to remind myself why I started every time I wanted to give up.
Every time I got past those doubts, I felt a little stronger and better able. It felt like every new part I wrote made me feel more confident.
Writing also helped me learn how to be patient. There were times when I was angry, stuck, or had no more ideas.
I could have given up, but I chose to stay with it and learned to trust that inspiration would come back.
What You Gain Is Beyond Words
It is not just about getting better at writing or crossing something off the list.
I learned who I could be when I stuck with something even when things got hard while writing an ebook.
Having that much self-confidence and toughness was worth every bit of trouble.
Think about working on this project and finding that by the end you have gained something intangible but valuable such as:
- Control over your thoughts;
- A better understanding of what drives you;
- A greater appreciation for your journey.
If You’re Thinking About It, Here’s My Advice
If you want to write an ebook, keep in mind that the process will change you. You will get stronger on the inside, learn patience, and be kind to yourself.
Every page you write is like a mirror, showing you the parts of yourself that are growing.
First, be interested, and then take one step at a time. You will get more than just a finished product as a reward. You will be changed in ways you did not expect, which may be the best thing that happens in the end.
